Is gelato really better than ice cream?

We can’t believe you would even ask such a question! Of course it’s better than ice cream. Gelato is made from milk rather than cream and is churned at a much slower rate, incorporating less air and leaving a denser final product.

Gelato is also served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream, which creates more intense flavours for you to enjoy.

What you end up with is a fabulous creamy dessert that is glossy and velvety beyond belief. It’s also better for you with less fat and less sugar.

In a nutshell, it’s heaven in a cup.

Can I hire your cart for my wedding or birthday party?

Of course, you can! Our gelato cart, Bella holds up to 8 flavours, making her the sweetest party guest. We cater for all types of events, everything from birthdays and weddings to corporate events and festivals.

We have several packages based on how many guests you’re expecting and how many flavours you would like to enjoy. Plus, we’d love to work with you to produce a signature flavour for your special day. Get in touch to find out more about our gelato cart packages.

How many people can you cater for?

We can cater for up to 400+ guests. Weddings, birthdays, hens, bucks, you name it, we can cater for it.

How far can you travel?

Mellabella is based in Canberra and services the entire city as well as the southern highlands.

Is your gelato gluten and nut free?

Our gelatos and sorbets are all gluten free and generally nut free. We occasionally use nuts in some of our gelatos but they are always clearly labelled. If you have any other dietary requirements, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Do you have any vegan options?

You bet we do! We have a selection of dairy-free gelato made with soy, coconut, or almond milk. It’s as flavourful and creamy as our classic range and suitable for vegan and lactose free diets. And don’t forget our all natural and delightfully sweet sorbet. It’s made without dairy or plant-based milk and makes for the perfect frozen treat.
